The eighth episode total in the Fast & Furious franchise, The Fate of the Furious is the very first Fast & Furious movie released since Paul Walker’s passing during generation on Furious 7. The Fate of the Furious is a solid addition to the franchise, but falls short of the bar set by recent Fast & Furious episodes.

Morgan and his collaborators here are successful at fulfilling the first and last of those three goals, by utilizing narrative contrivances that strain credibility… even from the standards of the Fast & Furious property however they achieve this. Also, Fate of the Furious includes plot points that operate in the context of the film arguably do a disservice to crucial characters from previous episodes and somewhat conflict with the themes of family that have long been championed via this franchise.

Even as Fate of the Furious fights to offer its two largest stars equivalent time in the limelight, Johnson settles nicely into his evolving character here as the Fast & Furious movie franchise’s “co -hero” here. In the same time, Diesel provides his most striking and emotionally-rich performance in a Fast & Furious film to date as the real “Evil Dom” story line falls short of showing more layers.
